Originally built in 1861, as a base for collecting rents from local tenanted estates,
the building later became the Bear and Ragged Staff. It has evolved over the years
from a basic inn to become one of Worcestershire's finest pub restaurants.
Gary Whitby and Lynda Williams purchased the Bear in 1997 and have renovated and
extended the property whilst continuing to work hands-on in the business. "Our philosophy
is to provide top quality, fresh food in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, whether
you are booking for a special celebratory meal, or popping in for your tea on the
way home from work."
There is a wide choice available on both the bar menu and restaurant menu, plus weekend
barbeques, skilfully prepared by our Head Chef, John Holden and his hard-working
team.
We use fresh produce, much of which is sourced locally, and some grown in our own
garden. With almost all the food being prepared on the premises, we can confidently
accommodate most dietary needs and food intolerances.
Private parties are also catered for - birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, funerals,
corporate and club events. And especially weddings for which we have built a fine
reputation. Note too, the Bear and Ragged Staff also has good disabled access and
facilities. Smoking is not permitted inside the Bear and Ragged Staff. See when we
are open, or the menus...
